The three-day Bangla Med Expo 2025 kicked off on Thursday at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB), Dhaka, showcasing the latest medical equipment and healthcare innovations from around the world.
Organised by Extreme Exhibition & Event Solution Limited, the event has brought together over 120 exhibitors representing more than 400 brands from at least 10 countries, including Bangladesh, China, India, Pakistan, Taiwan, and Switzerland.
The expo, open to all, is expected to attract more than 6,500 trade visitors, including healthcare professionals, importers, and industry stakeholders.
This year’s exhibition features a wide range of products—ranging from basic items like syringes, surgical gloves, and masks to advanced diagnostic imaging devices, physiotherapy solutions, and state-of-the-art hospital infrastructure technology.
Exhibitors are grouped into nine categories: medical equipment and devices, disposables and consumables, orthopaedics and physiotherapy, imaging and diagnostics, healthcare services, IT systems, infrastructure and assets, and wellness and prevention.
Bangladesh’s medical equipment and devices market is expanding rapidly. Valued at USD 442 million in 2020, it is projected to exceed USD 820 million by the end of 2025 and cross USD 3 billion by 2030, driven by demographic changes and the rapid expansion of healthcare facilities.
India and China currently account for 25–30% of Bangladesh’s imports of medical devices and consumables, while Germany and the United States supply 10–15%. Taiwan and Pakistan maintain smaller shares, each under 3% in most categories.
Notable participants at this year’s expo include Monir Neuro Spine Surgical Mart (Bangladesh), Brown Group and Soft Imaging (India), Aaymed (Pakistan), and Rossmax (Switzerland). Local exhibitors said the event helps them better understand market demand and strengthen industry networks.
Md Rajian Rabbin Ritu of Precision Medical Resources said: “We join exhibitions every year. They give us insights into customer demand and help us improve our products. Such platforms are also the most effective way to showcase our range.”
Md Mohsin, Assistant Manager (Sales) of Islamic Tradings, added: “We import various products from China and India. Our joint venture with Sinocare of China has enabled us to bring their new POCT analyser, iCare1300, to Bangladesh for the first time. However, the overall business climate remains challenging.”
The event also serves as an educational opportunity for young professionals. Pritom Pal, a student of Saic College of Medical Science and Technology, said: “Such exhibitions allow us to directly see and understand the use of many new devices. That’s why our college encourages us to attend.”
Some visitors are exploring investment opportunities. Russel Khan, a lawyer-turned-entrepreneur, said “I came here to explore business opportunities in the medical equipment sector and to understand market demand, import trends, and sourcing patterns.”
Since its inception, the Bangla Med Expo has helped international brands enter the Bangladeshi market and contributed to the growth of the country’s healthcare sector. Organisers said the event is not only about trade but also supports Bangladesh’s broader progress in healthcare, including reducing communicable diseases and improving maternal health and immunisation coverage.
The Bangla Med Expo 2025 will continue until August 23 at ICCB.
