Bangladesh, Myanmar fishery sector leaders sign deal for market expansion

Bangladesh and Myanmar fishery sector leaders teamed up to help boost trade growth and market expansion of the fisheries industries of the two countries.
In this connection, Bangladesh Frozen Foods Exporters Association (BFFEA) and Myanmar Fishery Products Processors and Exporters Association (MPEA) on Tuesday signed an agreement at a meeting held at the former’s office in the city, according to a statement.
BFFEA president Muhammad Shahjahan Chowdhury and Aung Naing (Md. Hafiz), on behalf of MPEA, signed the agreement.
A five-member MPEA delegation led by Aung Naing is visiting Bangladesh and held a meeting with BFFEA leaders.
Leaders of the both trade bodies in the meeting discussed the opportunities for cooperation, trade growth, information exchange, market expansion and skill development for the development of the fisheries industries of the two countries.
BFFEA vice presidents Md Tariqul Islam Zahir, Sheikh Kamrul Alam, Dodul Kumar Dutta, directors Md Jalal Uddin, Syed Badruzzaman, AKM Fazlul Haque, former president, Md Amin Ullah, former director, Shyamal Das, among others, were present in the meeting, according to the statement.
The agreement will create opportunities for cooperation in enhancing business relations between the two countries, exchange of industry-related policies, standards and market information, organise trade fairs, exchange of business delegations and training, and work to improve food safety and product quality.
