Bangladesh and Türkiye have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral trade ties for mutual benefits of the two countries.
This was told during a courtesy meeting between Turkish ambassador Ramis Sen in Dhaka and the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) at its office on Sunday.
FBCCI president Mahbubul Alam said Bangladesh has embarked on the establishment of 100 special economic zones (EPZs) across the country, attracting both domestic and foreign investors.
He encouraged Turkish investors to seize this opportunity, facilitating their entry into Bangladesh's vast consumer market and opening doors for exporting products manufactured in the labour-friendly environment here.
Mr Alam suggested that initiatives be made to expand business and trade between the two countries by identifying potential sectors and organising business-to-business (B2B) meetings.
Turkish investors have prospects for investment in several key sectors here, including oil refining, construction, medicine and industrial chemicals, tourism, agriculture, dairy, shipping and shipbuilding, and civil aviation.
Mr Alam pledged the apex trade body's full support to Turkish businessmen for strengthening bilateral trade between the two countries.
He, however, called for removing customs barriers to facilitate the export of garment products to Turkey, a move that could significantly boost the textile industry in Bangladesh.
At the meeting, the Turkish envoy praised Bangladesh's remarkable development progress and expressed his country's keen interest in expanding trade relations.
