Bangladesh wants direct flights to Indonesia, 'visa on arrival'

Dhaka sought the resumption of "Visa on arrival" facilities for Bangladeshi nationals in Indonesia to strengthen people-to-people contact between the two countries.
This was revealed today when Indonesia Ambassador Heru Hartanto Subolo paid a courtesy call to the Foreign Advisor Md. Touhid Hossain on Wednesday at the foreign ministry, BSS reports citing a press release.
During the meeting, they also emphasized the necessity of direct air connectivity between Dhaka and Jakarta to enhance trade between the two friendly nations.
Referring to strong bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Indonesia, both discussed the whole array of bilateral cooperation including trade and investment, renewable energy, connectivity and people-to-people contact.
The Indonesian Envoy appreciated the expanding trade and investment between the two countries.
The Foreign Advisor thanked Indonesia for its potential engagements with Bangladesh in the area of power, energy and energy security.
Both underscored the need for strengthening trade and investment, especially by concluding pending agreements like Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA).
Both reaffirmed a strong partnership between the countries paving the way for deeper collaboration in areas of mutual benefit.
