Bank Asia establishes solar-powered irrigation project for farmers in Rangpur

As part of corporate social responsibility, Bank Asia has established a modern two-tier solar-powered irrigation project in Pirgacha, Rangpur, aimed at supporting marginal farmers by ensuring an adequate water supply for agriculture.
According to a press release, the initiative has been implemented in collaboration with the Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (RDA), Bogura.
On 26 November 2025, the project was officially handed over to the local Farmers’ Association. Dr. A. K. M. Oli Ullah, Director General (Additional Secretary) of RDA, Bogura, attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest. Mr. Rashed Mahmud, Assistant Vice President of Bank Asia, and Mr. Ferdous Khan, Director of RDA, Bogura, were present as Special Guests.
The program was presided over by Mr. M. A. Hamid, Head of Bank Asia’s Rangpur Branch. Members of the Farmers’ Association and other distinguished guests were also present.
The solar-powered irrigation system can extract and supply 50,000 litres of water per hour, contributing significantly to meeting farmers’ irrigation needs while also ensuring a reliable source of clean water for household use.
