BASIC Bank holds knowledge-sharing program on Anti-Money Laundering & Combating of Terrorist Financing

State-owned BASIC Bank Limited organized a knowledge-sharing program on ‘Anti Money Laundering & Combating the Financing of Terrorism’ with the participation of the Board of Directors and senior management of the Bank, which was held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the Bank’s Head Office in Motijheel, Dhaka.

Helal Ahmed Chowdhoury, Chairman of the Board of Directors, graced the event as the Chief Guest and Md. Quamruzzaman Khan, Managing Director & CEO of the bank, presided over the program, according to a media release. 

In the program, Sajjad Hossain, Additional Director of Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU), gave a detailed presentation on AML/CFT for the Board Members & Senior Management Team of BASIC Bank Ltd.

In his inaugural speech, Helal Ahmed Chowdhoury, Chairman of the Board of Directors, emphasized the importance of preventing money laundering and terrorist financing in banking operations and instructed proper compliance with regulatory authority guidelines on these issues and updating of technological support. The participants shared their knowledge and detailed insights into various issues related to the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing.

Among the participants- Munshi Abdul Ahad, Additional Secretary of Finance Division, Ministry of Finance, Sheikh Farid, Joint Secretary of FID, Ministry of Finance, Md. Matiur Rahman, FCA, FCMA, Md. Abdul Ahad, Additional Secretary (Rtd.), Dr. Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal, former Government Official (Grade-1), S M Iqbal Hossain, all Directors of BASIC Bank, and Abu Md. Mofazzal and Subhash Chandra Das, FCA, FCMA, Deputy Managing Directors, along with Md. Ismail, Md. Momenul Hoque, Md. Nashir Uddin, Sumit Ranjan Nath, CAMELCO Md. Hasan Imam, Dulon Kanti Chakrabarty, Md. Ghulam Syeed Khan, Saidur Rahman Sohel, all General Managers, Nurur Rahman Chowdhury (GM-CC), Jahir Uddin Ahmed, Head of AMLD, were also present on the occasion.
