A delegation from American & Efird (A&E), Bangladesh, led by Managing Director Angelo Leanage, met with BGMEA President Faruque Hassan on Wednesday. The meeting was also attended by Syed Arefin, Deputy Managing Director of A&E (Bangladesh), and H.S.M. Iftekhar Husain, Director of GRS Asia Region, according to a statement.

The group discussed various issues related to the RMG (Ready-Made Garments) industry, including the current state of the sector, global market demand and trends, as well as current challenges and opportunities. They also discussed potential collaboration between BGMEA and A&E to support the industry's transition towards manufacturing value-added garment apparel, especially those made from man-made fibres.

Highlighting the industry's increased focus on product diversification to ensure sustainable growth, Faruque Hassan stated that Bangladeshi garment factories were investing in technology upgrades to enhance efficiency and productivity while opting for value-added products. As a manufacturer and distributor of premium quality industrial and consumer sewing thread, embroidery thread, and technical textiles, A&E could expand its business in Bangladesh and strengthen partnerships with garment companies.

“We are happy to know that A&E has expanded its manufacturing footprint in Chittagong which will help to cater more to the needs of the apparel sectors. We hope A&E will bring more quality products for the garment factories that will increase efficiency in the production process,” he further said.

Faruque Hassan requested the A&E to encourage the buyers it works with to source apparel from Bangladesh.
