The biennial elections to Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) for the 2025-27 term will be held today (Saturday) in Dhaka and Chattogram.
A total of 1,835 voters are expected to cast their votes from 8.0 am to 5.0 pm at Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel in Dhaka and Radisson Blu Hotel in Chattogram simultaneously.
A total of 76 candidates from three panels, namely Sammilita Parishad, Forum, and Oikko Parishad, are running for 35 director posts of the BGMEA--the apex body of the country's apparel makers.
Both Sammilita Parishad and Forum panels fielded 35 candidates each while Oikko Parishad has named six candidates.
Md Abul Kalam, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Chaity Group, is leading the Sammilita Parishad while Mahmud Hasan Khan, Managing Director of Rising Group, is leading the Forum panel in the elections.
On the other hand, Mohammad Mohsin, Chairman of Romo Group, is the panel leader of Oikko Parishad.
