Biman Bangladesh Airlines has expanded its special concessional airfare programme, known as the 'worker fare', to four additional Middle Eastern countries -- United Arab Emirates (UAE), Oman, Kuwait and Qatar -- in a bid to ease overseas travel for Bangladeshi migrant workers.
The national flag carrier has already been operating this facility under Reservation Booking Designator (RBD) "T" for outbound flights to Saudi Arabia and Malaysia.
With the addition of these new routes, Biman aims to further strengthen support for expatriate workers, who are widely regarded as "remittance fighters" for their significant contribution to the national economy.
The special fare is applicable only for one-way outbound tickets and will remain valid until December 31, 2025, according to a press release issued by ABM Raoshan Kabir, General Manager (Public Relations) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, on Monday.
"Recognising the vital contributions of expatriates, Biman Bangladesh Airlines remains committed to making the journeys of these remittance fighters more affordable, convenient, and safe in the future," the airline said.
Remittances from overseas workers remain a cornerstone of Bangladesh's foreign exchange reserves, with millions of nationals being employed across the Gulf and Southeast Asian regions.
