He was speaking at a programme on the commissioning of new ground support equipment and a vehicle exhibition at the Motor Transport department on Monday.
The national flag carrier has bought a huge amount of required equipment and recruited around 1,000 people to enhance its capacity for ground handling at the HSIA, he said.
Later, the Biman boss formally commissioned 18 brand new Japanese-made aircraft cargo/baggage tow-tractors, two state-of-the-art aircraft push-back tow-tractors, and new sedan VIP cars to ferry passengers to the aircraft.
Among others, Executive Director HSIA Group Captain Mohammad Kamrul Islam, Biman directors, and various levels of officials were also present, UNB reports.
According to Biman's Motor Transport Division, ground handling operations will be further enhanced with the addition of 18 brand new aircraft cargo/baggage tow-tractors manufactured by Japan's Toyota Tsusho Corporation to the GSE fleet in continuation of the progress of the GSE division.
In addition, two state-of-the-art aircraft push-back tow-tractors made by GSE manufacturer TLD France will be added to the GSE fleet to enhance ground handling service capacity, which will play a vital role in ensuring on-time departure of flights, the Biman CEO added.
