BMCCI, WE forge strategic partnership to empower women-led SMEs

The Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) and WOMEN & E-COMMERCE (WE) TRUST on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cementing a strategic alliance, with the aim of empowering and supporting women-led small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to grow further across the country.

The signing ceremony, held at the BMCCI secretariat, was graced by the presence of distinguished individuals, including the President of BMCCI Mr Shabbir A Khan, and the President of WOMEN & E-COMMERCE (WE) Nasima Akhtar Nisa. BMCCI Executive Secretary Mr Hasanur Rahman Chowdhury, Executive Director of WE Irin Parveen, and Director of WE Imana Hoque Jyoti were present at the ceremony.

Under the agreement, BMCCI and WE have outlined specific objectives to support women-led SMEs, including providing business analysis and financial management tools, arranging training programmes for product diversification, promoting WE's suitable products for women-led SMEs, and increasing access to finance and information in different sectors.

The roles and responsibilities of BMCCI include connecting WE's potential women-led SMEs with various services and facilities, mentoring and guiding entrepreneurs on commercial law, and access to finance. It will also facilitate training on packaging, export literacy, formulating legal documents, and expanding the market access opportunities for women-led SMEs in both Bangladesh and Malaysia.

This collaboration represents a significant step towards the betterment of women-led SMEs in Bangladesh, by leveraging their respective expertise and resources, both organisations are committed to fostering an environment conducive to the growth and success of women-led SMEs, ultimately contributing to the economic empowerment of women across the country.
