BRAC Bank agent banking continues to champion financial inclusion by organising a financial literacy session in Jashore.
The bank hosted an ‘Uthan Boithok’ — a community-based financial awareness initiative — in the Bostapotti area, focusing on families dependent on remittances, according to a media release.
Conducted by the BRAC Bank Rupdia Agent Banking Outlet, the session aimed to improve financial literacy and promote greater inclusion among rural communities.
Held on April 12, 2025, the event brought together over 50 expatriate families from the local area, reaffirming the bank’s commitment to offering tailored banking solutions to families with members working abroad.
The session was led by Bisawjit Ghosh, Agent Relationship Officer, Agent Banking, BRAC Bank; and Faraz Ahmed, Agent Field Officer, BRAC Bank Rupdia Agent Banking Outlet. They emphasised the importance of financial literacy and the benefits of utilising formal banking channels for remittances.
The session aimed to educate expatriate families about the advantages of opening bank accounts, managing remittances securely, and the significance of savings in achieving financial stability.
Commenting on the initiative, Nazmur Rahim, Head of Alternate Banking Channels at BRAC Bank, stated, “BRAC Bank is committed to ensuring that expatriate families have access to modern banking services that cater to their unique needs. By providing a platform for these families to engage with our services, we aim to empower them to make informed financial decisions and enhance their economic well-being.”
The Rupdia Agent Banking Outlet serves as a vital resource for expatriate families, offering a range of services from account opening to remittance transfers, ensuring that families can receive funds securely and efficiently.
This initiative is part of BRAC Bank's broader strategy to reach unbanked individuals and marginalised communities, reinforcing the bank's role in fostering financial inclusion across the country.
With the rapid expansion of its Agent Banking network, BRAC Bank now serves over 450,000 unbanked individuals, primarily in rural and semi-urban areas, achieving an industry-high rural penetration rate of 80%.
The bank's commitment to providing accessible banking solutions is evident in its efforts to engage with local communities and address their specific financial needs.
