BRAC Bank completes month-long intensive training for CMSMEs in Sirajganj

It conducts the 2nd batch of the Entrepreneurship Development Programme in partnership with the Ministry of Finance and the Bangladesh Bank

BRAC Bank, with support from the Ministry of Finance and Bangladesh Bank, has completed a month-long intensive training for the promising entrepreneurs in the cottage, micro, small and medium enterprises (CMSMEs) sector in Sirajganj.

The Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance has initiated a capacity-building program under the Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Program (SICIP) ,with technical and implementation support from Bangladesh Bank, to groom the country's up-and-coming entrepreneurs, according to a press release.

The closing ceremony of the second batch of ‘Entrepreneurship Development Programme’ took place at the hotel in Sigajganj on December 4, 2025. Senior officials of Bangladesh Bank and BRAC Bank formally handed over the certificates to the 25 participating entrepreneurs.

Nawshad Mustafa, Director, SME & Special Programmes Department, Bangladesh Bank, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Syed Abdul Momen, Additional Managing Director and Head of SME Banking, BRAC Bank; Md. Ayub Ali, Joint Director & Deputy Program Director (DPD), SME & Special Programmes Department, Bangladesh Bank, were special guests at the closing ceremony presided over by Biplab Kumar Biswas, Head of Small Business (North), SME Banking, BRAC Bank.

From BRAC Bank, S M Alomgir Hossain, Head of Small Business (Central) and Distributor Finance; Md. Nazrul Islam, Head of Small (South), Cottage & Micro Business; and Mahbubur Rahman, Head of Small (East), Liability & Chief Bancassurance Officer; were present.

BRAC Bank has hosted the month-long training for CMSME entrepreneurs in Sirajganj City, featuring expert resource persons from Bangladesh Bank and BRAC Bank. The training programme is aimed at helping potential business owners develop and hone entrepreneurial and managerial skills to thrive in their businesses.

The programme is funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), managed by the SICIP Project of the Finance Division, Ministry of Finance, and implemented by the SME and Special Programmes Department of Bangladesh Bank.

Commenting on the initiative, Syed Abdul Momen, Additional Managing Director and Head of SME Banking at BRAC Bank, said, “As an SME-focused bank, we go beyond providing access to finance by equipping entrepreneurs with the skills needed to run and scale their businesses effectively.
