BRAC Bank’s digital banking platform ‘Astha’ has recorded BDT 237,000 crore (Tk 2.37 trillion) in transaction volume in 2025, serving more than 12 lakh customers.
‘Astha’ App now processes BDT 24,000 crore in transactions every month, accounting for over 50 per cent of the bank’s total digital transaction volume.
The milestone reflects the bank’s sustained investment in technology, customer experience and secure digital infrastructure, as digital banking becomes increasingly central to everyday financial life in Bangladesh.
Over the past two years, the platform has grown at a remarkable pace. Transaction volume has tripled from BDT 73,000 crore in 2023. Annual transaction count reached around 5 crores in 2025, also three times higher than two years ago.
The growth in usage has translated into tangible financial outcomes. In 2025, Astha mobilised around BDT 4,700 crore in deposits, including BDT 4,600 crore in fixed deposits and nearly BDT 110 crore in DPS accounts. Digital lending through the platform reached BDT 612 crore, with 40 per cent of loans processed entirely through self-service journeys, reflecting increasing customer confidence in managing financial transactions independently.
A growing share of requests is now completed through self-service options, which account for about 30% of total service interactions. Customers are able to resolve NPSB disputes, update contact information, submit personal service requests and complete TIN updates directly through the app, reducing the need for branch visits and enhancing convenience.
Independent market research conducted by OrbitX, a Bangladesh-based digital insights and analytics firm, analysed 50,000 user reviews across leading banking apps in the country. The study found Astha achieved nearly 80% positive sentiment among users, reflecting strong customer satisfaction with the platform’s usability and service experience.
During 2025, BRAC Bank further enhanced Astha’s ecosystem to broaden its value proposition. New features included microinsurance products in partnership with MetLife, Single Sign-On integration across the bank’s digital platforms, and capital market investment through integration with BRAC EPL Investments Limited.
Additional enhancements such as 24/7 SME loan collection, National QR compatibility aligned with guidelines of Bangladesh Bank, and bKash QR integration further strengthened payment convenience and interoperability.
“The scale Astha has achieved the growing trust customers place in secure, convenient digital banking. At the same time, we recognise that this is only a milestone in a much longer journey. There is still significant ground to cover. Our aspiration is to shape Astha into the pinnacle of convenient banking for customers - seamless, intuitive and dependable - while continuing to strengthen security, service quality and innovation,” stated Tareq Refat Ullah Khan, Managing Director and CEO of BRAC Bank.
