The British Council recently conducted a ‘Young Learner Art Competition’ for children aged 7 to 17 years, at the Dhaka University, Fuller Road centre, according to a press release.

Teachers at the British Council delivered lessons to foster creativity and encourage young learners to discover how to communicate their ideas in different media.

Stephen Forbes, Country Director, Bangladesh, British Council, was present at the award certificate event to celebrate the artwork of the winners and runners-up of the Young Learner Art Competition on 01 August 2025. He said, 'We are delighted to host this art competition for children who have displayed a wonderful spark of imagination and creativity through their artwork themed “Colours of the World”. At the British Council, we provide a fun learning environment to help young learners become confident, happy, and skilled global leaders of the future.’  He visited the classrooms and shared inspiring words with the young future leaders studying at the British Council. He also interacted with the parents and guardians during the event. All students submitting artwork received a certificate, and the winner and runner-up for each level received distinct certificates. The artwork of the Bangladesh winners will go on to the British Council regional competition in October.

This year’s competition theme was “Colours of the World,” highlighting diversity, culture, and the beauty of differences as seen from the eyes of children. It was held across four levels: Lower Primary (age 8 and under), Upper Primary (9-11 years), Secondary (12-15 years), and Upper Secondary level (16 years +). The learners responded with real creativity. Their collective works show the richness of diversity. Their artwork was displayed at a week-long Young Learner Art Exhibition for art lovers to enjoy. Parents, guardians, students, and British Council staff visited the exhibition. The winners’ artwork was selected by a panel of judges at the British Council.

The art competition is one way the British Council aims to make learning English fun and inspiring for kids and teenagers beyond classroom activities. Its Cambridge-certified expert teachers partner with parents to ensure their child is supported every step of the way and make measurable progress through engaging lessons in a safe and child-friendly classroom environment, personalised attention in lively group classes, and interactive pre- and post-class activities on an easy-to-use online Learning Hub. Through the English courses, they develop their creativity, enhance their skills for success, and learn English as the world’s global language.

The British Council supports peace and prosperity by building connections, understanding and trust between people in the UK and countries worldwide. For 90 years, it has shaped brighter futures through education, arts, culture, language, and creativity. Through its English language teaching programmes, the organisation empowers learners of all ages to improve their communication skills and enhance their academic, professional, and personal growth.
