Top business leaders met Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed on Sunday to address the ongoing disruption in trade and commerce caused by the protest of National Board of Revenue (NBR) officials. The meeting took place at the Finance Ministry in the Secretariat around 5:45 PM.
Present at the meeting were leaders from major trade bodies, including ICCB, FBCCI, BGMEA, LFMEAB, MCCI, BCI, and DCCI. NBR Chairman Md Abdur Rahman Khan also attended.
The nationwide import-export activities have been severely affected due to the NBR officers’ protest, prompting urgent calls for resolution.
Meanwhile, the government has declared all NBR-related jobs—including customs houses, ICDs, bond commissionerates, and customs stations—as essential services to keep vital trade operations running.
In a statement, the government urged protesting staff to return to work and warned of strict actions if disruptions continue, citing the need to safeguard the economy and public interest.
