With funding support from USAID and The PVH Foundation, in 2022 CARE Bangladesh committed to providing life and professional skills training to over 100,000 women workers in Bangladesh's ready-made garment (RMG) sector.

The training is part of USAID’s Project THRIVE in Bangladesh, established to support women in the supply chain by providing them with professional and life skills training and services, says a press release.

The program works with around 75 PVH Corp.’s supply chain factories to service women’s economic empowerment by equipping them with market-oriented soft and hard skills and supporting them in overcoming social norms and gender barriers.

On September 20, 2023, CARE Bangladesh organized a suppliers’ roundtable at Hotel Lake Shore in Dhaka to share and showcase lessons, best practices, and innovations while implementing the project at PVH’s supply chain factories in Bangladesh.

“Through USAID’s Project THRIVE, in partnership with USAID and The PVH Foundation, CARE aims to create decent work prospects for women who are working in diverse sectors and equip them with market-oriented soft and hard skills,” said Ramesh Singh, country director of CARE Bangladesh, while welcoming the honorable guests, dignitaries, and participants.

Alena Tansey, office director for Democratic Rights and Governance, USAID, attended the event as the Chief Guest. Najeeb Sayed, senior director and country manager of PVH Bangladesh spoke at the event as special guest.

Senior officials from PVH Corp. and its leading supply chain factories, CARE Bangladesh, and partner NGOs joined the dialogue.

“After attending Personal Advancement and Career Enhancement (P.A.C.E.) training, my courage and confidence increased to a great extent. Now I can work in a planned way and achieve my target easily,” said Mariom Akter, one of the program participants of the project who attended the event, the press release adds.
