Chinese firm to set up first aeroplane amenity bag plant in BEPZA Economic Zone

Chinese company KMK Industrial Limited is set to establish the first-ever aeroplane amenity bag and kit manufacturing facility at the BEPZA Economic Zone.
The project involves an investment of $18.60 million and is expected to create employment opportunities for 1,231 Bangladeshis, according to a press release issued on Tuesday.
The agreement was signed on September 14, 2025, between Mr Md Ashraful Kabir, Member (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA, and Mr Wu Yuxiang , Chairman of KMK Industrial Limited, in the presence of BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, BSP, ndc, psc .
Initially, the company will produce aeroplane amenity bags and later expand its operations to manufacture socks, garments, accessories, cosmetics, and selected electronic items, including headphones and USB cables.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Major General Ziaur Rahman thanked KMK Industrial Limited for selecting BEPZA Economic Zone as their investment destination and reaffirmed BEPZA’s commitment to providing comprehensive support for smooth business operations.
“This project represents a milestone in our continuous efforts to diversify export-oriented industries,” he said.
“We strongly encourage investors to develop in-house production capacity and source materials locally, thereby strengthening both industry and the national economy.”
The event was attended by senior BEPZA officials, including Abdullah Al Mamun, Member (Engineering); A N M Foyzul Haque, Member (Finance); Md Tanvir Hossain, Executive Director (Investment Promotion); Md Khorshid Alam, Executive Director (Enterprise Services); Md Salahuddin, Executive Director (Administration); and A.S.M. Anwar Parvez, Executive Director (Public Relations), alongside representatives from KMK Industrial Limited.
