To align with Bangladesh Bank's initiative to achieve financial inclusion, Citibank NA Bangladesh launched its financial literacy programme recently, says a press release.
Designed by the Financial Literacy Wing (FLW) of Citibank NA, Bangladesh, this programme aims to create awareness and knowledge on financial matters and services that will effectively facilitate the skills, behaviour, and attitude of an individual towards making impactful financial decisions.
The programme has been executed in partnership with SAJIDA Foundation, a value-driven, non-profit organisation aiming to empower communities, catalyse entrepreneurship, foster equity, and establish enterprises for good with a vision to ensure health, happiness and dignity for all.
The first training session was attended by 21 women micro entrepreneurs who are involved in different business initiatives including tailoring, scrap collection, tea stalls and vegetable farming.
The session was inaugurated by the Head of Financial Literacy Wing (FLW) Mohammad Akher along with Head of Global Public Affairs and FLW Lead Rumana Ahmed of Citibank NA Bangladesh and coordinators from SAJIDA Foundation.
The topics covered were savings, capital, profit and loss, sale on cash and credit, customer behaviour, marketing, account opening with banks and mobile financial services, remittance through safe channels etc. Examples of successful business models relevant to the audience, best practices and case studies of successful scale-up of small business were also discussed.
