Crowne Plaza Dhaka Airport inaugurated

Crowne Plaza Dhaka Airport has officially opened its doors at Centrepoint, marking a significant milestone in Bangladesh’s hospitality landscape.

The inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of distinguished guests, including advisors and directors of United Group, alongside representatives of IHG Hotels & Resorts. The event concluded with a ceremonial cake-cutting, according to a press release.

Among those present were Chief Advisor of United Group Hasan Mahmood Raja and the founding Advisors Akhter Mahmud and K.M. Ahsan Shamim. Also present was Chairman and Managing Director of United Group Moinduddin Hasan Rashid along with Directors Nizamuddin Hasan Rashid, Khondaker Zayed Ahsan, Sharfuddin Akhter Rashid and Kutubuddin Akhter Rashid.

Speaking at the event, Ashwani Nayar, Area General Manager, IHG South West Asia and Cluster General Manager, Crowne Plaza Dhaka Airport & Inter Continental Dhaka Airport, said “We are not just a hotel; we represent a bridge between two pioneers—United Group and IHG. Through this unique ecosystem, our aim is to set a new benchmark for the city and create a hospitality venture that others will look to for best practices, exemplified by Crowne Plaza Dhaka Airport.”

Khondaker Zayed Ahsan, Managing Director of IPCO Developments Ltd. & IPCO Hotels Ltd., noted that “What we have built at IPCO is the result of a complex but rewarding journey, made possible by the collective efforts of the United Group family and the IHG family. Together, we have laid the foundation for a landmark hospitality destination with Crowne Plaza Dhaka Airport at its heart.”

Crowne Plaza Dhaka Airport features 284 rooms and suites designed with dedicated zones for work, rest and relaxation. The hotel also offers extensive event facilities, including the 9,000-square-foot Celestial Ballroom with capacity for up to 1,100 guests, along with flexible meeting spaces such as Aurora I & II and Mist, equipped with world class amenities.

The opening reflects a joint effort to introduce global hospitality standards while contributing to the country’s growing tourism and business ecosystem.
