The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has urged the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) to recruit more skilled workers from Bangladesh.
The trade body made the request during a meeting with the Al Madina Al Munwara Chamber of Commerce held recently at the Madina Chamber in Saudi Arabia, said a press release received on Sunday.
A large private sector business delegation, comprising representatives from leading private sector companies in Bangladesh and led by DCCI President Barrister Md. Sameer Sattar, is currently visiting Saudi Arabia to explore new business prospects.
Barrister Md. Sameer Sattar said that Saudi Arabia could be a great destination for Bangladeshi skilled manpower.
He urged the Saudi authorities to hire more skilled professionals from Bangladesh, especially in the logistic, infrastructure, information technology (IT), and outsourcing sectors.
Mr. Sattar also urged the members of the board of Madina Chamber to invest in Bangladesh, especially in the health, tourism, and social service sectors.
He also said that the Bangladesh government was continuing various fiscal and non-fiscal incentives for foreign investors investing in economic zones.
After Bangladesh graduates from the least developed country club in 2026, the nation must diversify its exportable goods as well as potential markets, he stated.
Highlighting Saudi Arabia as a potential market, he said that, apart from manpower, Bangladeshi products are very popular here in Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Khalid Abdul Qader Daqal, vice chairman of Madina Chamber, said they set a few priorities to facilitate trade and investment, like integrated institutional development, enabling supportive laws and regulations and competitive economic development, providing qualitative services, competitive economic development, and realising effective community development.
Madina accounted for seven percent of the total gross domestic product (GDP) of Saudi Arabia, he mentioned.

Highlighting the potential of some sectors such as pharmaceuticals, leather and leather goods, ceramics, tourism, and agro-processing in Bangladesh, he stated that investors from both countries could look into joint venture investment.
He also said that frequent visits by business delegations would enhance business-to-business (B2B) communication.
DCCI Senior Vice President S. M. Golam Faruk Alamgir (Arman), Vice President Md. Junaed Ibna Ali, and other members of the business delegation were also present on the occasion.
