Direct Dhaka- Malé-Dhaka flights of Maldivian Airlines will resume on March 12 this year, reinforcing air connectivity between the two friendly South Asian countries, according to a press release issued on Tuesday.

Maldivian Airlines has already signed an agreement with its Bangladeshi General Sales Agent (GSA), Galaxy Aviation Services, to resume its direct Dhaka-Malé flights.

The agreement was signed by Mohamed Ibrahim Yasir, Managing Director of Maldivian Airlines, and Ahmed Yusuf Walid, President and Chief Executive Officer of Galaxy Bangladesh Group, at a city hotel on Monday evening.

The resumption of the Dhaka-Malé-Dhaka route is expected to enhance passenger movement, particularly for Bangladeshi expatriates working in the Maldives, and facilitate smoother bilateral travel.

Ambassador of the Maldives to Bangladesh Shiuneen Rasheed, Maldivian's Director of Ground Operations Ahmed Ibrahim and General Manager (International Commercial) Mohamed Saffah were present at the signing ceremony.

Initially, the airline will operate two weekly flights on Sundays and Thursdays. Flights are scheduled to land in Dhaka in the early morning, enabling passengers to connect conveniently with onward international destinations.

According to airline authorities, the service has been re-launched in response to growing demand from Bangladeshi nationals in the Maldives, ahead of the post-Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr travel rush.
