Djibouti has urged Bangladeshi investors and manufacturers to seize the emerging investment and export opportunities in the East African country, describing it as a strategic trade gateway linking Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.

The non-resident ambassador of Djibouti to Bangladesh, Isse Abdillahi Assoweh, emphasised his country's geo-strategic strength, robust infrastructure, and secure business environment while speaking at a press conference held at a hotel in the capital on Tuesday.

Leaders from Bangladesh's readymade garment (RMG), textile, electronics, pharmaceuticals, and food processing sectors attended the event.

Abdul Haque, the honorary consul of Djibouti in Bangladesh, highlighted the benefits awaiting Bangladeshi investors, including tax exemptions and investment-friendly production conditions, within the economic zones of the small country located on the northeast coast of the Horn of Africa.

He noted significant potential for Bangladeshi businesses in logistics, manufacturing, and trade facilitation.

Ambassador Isse said a Bangladeshi business delegation would visit Djibouti in January to explore opportunities through direct meetings, site visits, and possible partnership agreements.

He underscored that by leveraging this geographical and logistical advantage, Bangladeshi businesses could significantly expand their market reach to high-potential regions.

Bangladesh currently exports RMG, pharmaceuticals, jute products, tea, home textiles, and beverages to Djibouti.

The embassy expects increased investment to strengthen and diversify this trade basket.
