EBL declares 35pc dividend at its 33rd AGM

Eastern Bank PLC (EBL) has declared a 35 per cent dividend for the year ended on December 31, 2024, at its 33rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on digital platform today, May 21, 2025. 

The dividend comprises 17.50 per cent in cash and 17.50 per cent in stock, as approved by the shareholders during the AGM, according to a media release. 

The meeting was chaired by Md. Showkat Ali Chowdhury, Chairman of the Board of Directors of EBL, and attended by board members Anis Ahmed, Salina Ali, Gazi Md. Shakhawat Hossain, K.J.S. Banu, Zara Namreen, Ruslan Nasir, Mahreen Nasir, Barrister K.M. Tanjib-ul Alam, and Khondkar Atique-e-Rabbani FCA.
 
Ali Reza Iftekhar, Managing Director, and Md. Abdullah Al Mamun FCS, Company Secretary, along with other senior officials of the bank and a significant number of shareholders, joined the meeting. 

All agenda items placed before the AGM were duly approved.
 
During the proceedings, shareholders commended the Board and Management for EBL’s strong financial performance in 2024 and praised the launch of Islamic Banking alongside the bank’s existing Conventional Banking operations. 

Despite challenges posed by global economic uncertainties and domestic instability, shareholders expressed satisfaction with the declared dividend and the bank’s strategic initiatives, the release adds.
