EBL hosts School Banking conference in Rangpur

Eastern Bank PLC (EBL), as the lead bank, organised a School Banking conference in Rangpur on May 24, 2025, with the participation from 45 banks operating in the district.

According to a press release, the event was held under the guidance of Bangladesh Bank as part of its nationwide initiative to foster financial inclusion and literacy among students.

The conference, held at the Rangpur Zilla Parishad Community Centre, brought together around 300 students and teachers from 45 schools across the district. The primary objective was to educate students on the importance of savings and nurture a savings-oriented mindset from an early age.

Md. Rafiqul Islam, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, Rangpur Office was chief guest on the occasion. Presided over by M. Khorshed Anowar, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Retail and SME Banking of Eastern Bank the conference was attended by  Md. Iqbal Mohasin, Director, Financial Inclusion Department, Bangladesh Bank,  Dhaka Head Office; Md. Emdadul Hoque, Director, Bangladesh Bank, Rangpur; Md. Abul Kalam Azad, District Education Officer (Additional Charge), Rangpur; and Md. Raquib, Head of Bancassurance and Student Banking, EBL.

The conference commenced with a colorful rally followed by an interactive quiz competition organized by Bangladesh Bank, with prizes awarded to the winners. A captivating cultural performance was also organized which included a puppet show, designed to creatively demonstrate the benefits of school banking and the importance of gaining financial knowledge under the “Banking Umbrella.”
