The planning ministry has asked the ministries and divisions concerned to take effective measures to implement various development projects, including the foreign-aided ones, with a view to ensuring the country's sustainable development.
Planning Secretary Iqbal Abdullah Harun wrote this in semi-government letters sent to the secretaries concerned on January 26.
In November last year, the planning adviser instructed top officials of the ministries and divisions to increase their annual development programme (ADP) implementation rates.
The total ADP size in the current financial year is more than Tk 2.65 trillion. The actual spending against the ADP target is being reviewed in the revised budget.
Besides, the interim government is emphasising successful implementation of the ADP projects.
At least 17.97 per cent of the ADP was implemented from July to December in FY25, down from 22.48 per cent in the same period of the previous fiscal year.
Besides, the implementation rate in this period was 23.53 per cent in FY23, 24.06 per cent in FY22, and 23.89 per cent in FY21.
The planning secretary also emphasised implementing the projects that contribute to improve employment generation, build manpower, address climate-related issues, and eradicate poverty.
The ousted Awami League government passed the FY25 budget with an ADP allocation of Tk 782.88 billion.
