The country’s merchandise export earnings in May 2025 witnessed double-digit growth of 11.45 per cent, reaching US$ 4.73 billion year-on-year, fueled by the performance of the readymade garment (RMG) sector.
Bangladesh earned US$ 4.25 billion in May 2024, according to Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data released on Tuesday.
Earnings from RMG exports in May 2025 amounted to US$ 3.91 billion, up from US$ 3.50 billion in May 2024, representing a monthly growth of 11.85 per cent.
Overall exports stood at US$ 44.94 billion during the July–May period of FY 2024–25, reflecting a 10 per cent year-on-year growth.
Bangladesh fetched US$ 40.85 billion during the same period of the last fiscal year, the data showed.
As usual, the Ready-Made Garment (RMG) sector maintained its leading position, contributing US$ 36.55 billion and registering a 10.20 per cent increase over the same period last year.
