According to the survey, the cereals were adding 66.42 per cent value of the total output to the country's gross domestic product (GDP) after intermediate consumption of 33.58 per cent.

Oilseeds had made a value addition of 73.33 per cent to the GDP after intermediate consumption of 26.66 per cent of the total output.

Similarly, pulses had also added 79.20 per cent of its total output to the country's GDP after an intermediate consumption of 20.80 per cent, the BBS findings showed.

The findings of the survey were revealed at a function in the city on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, project director of the survey Ziauddin Ahmaed said this type of survey had been done for the first time in Bangladesh which would help facilitate a quality GDP data generation.

"We have taken a plan to rebase our GDP calculation year to FY 2015-16 from the current base-year of FY 2005-06. The agricultural survey will facilitate job creation," he added.
