The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) has urged the entrepreneurs to ensure compliance to avoid health risks and accidents in industrial units.

President of FBCCI Md Jashim Uddin made the call during a discussion organised by the apex trade body's safety council at a city hotel on Thursday.

He said compliance should be given utmost priority by the businesses for protecting trillion dollars worth of economy of the country.

He added that visiting an industrial unit by an inspection team does not mean that the factory will be shut down.

He said the factory owners could avoid risks by seeking recommendations on structural risks of the industrial units.

Mr Jashim called upon the entrepreneurs to take the compliance issue seriously for the interest of the country's economy.

Senior vice-president of FBCCI Mostofa Azad Chowdhury Babu said the FBCCI's safety council is involved with the survey-cum-inspection team led by leadership of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA).

Vice-president of FBCCI MA Momen and its adviser for safety council Abu Nayeem Md Shahidullah and other business leaders were present.
