Former BGMEA president Mostafa Golam Quddus breathed his last at Evercare Hospital, Dhaka, at 6:40 am on Saturday (Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun).
His tenure as the President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) remains historic for his efforts in eradicating child labour from the ready-made garments (RMG) sector.
Mr Quddus, a freedom fighter, was born on March 4, 1949 in Cumilla. His contributions to the RMG, textiles, and financial sectors will forever be remembered, said a press release.
Mr Quddus was also the chairman of Dragon Group and Rupali Insurance Company Ltd, and former chairman of Sonali Life Insurance Company Limited.
His first namaz-e-janaza was held at Gulshan Azad Mosque after the Zuhr prayer on Saturday. The second namaz-e-janaza was held at his village home in Chauddagram, Cumilla. He was laid to rest there.
