Forum sweeps BGMEA polls, wins 31 of 35 director posts for 2025–2027 term

The Forum panel, led by Mahmud Hasan Khan, has won the biennial elections of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) for the 2025–2027 term, securing 31 out of 35 directorship positions, according to preliminary results.
Forum dominated the polls, winning 25 out of 26 director posts in Dhaka and six out of nine in Chattogram.
Sammilito Parishad, headed by Chaity Group Managing Director Md Abul Kalam, secured four director posts—one in Dhaka and three in Chattogram. The Oikko Parishad panel, led by Romo Group Chairman Mohammad Mohsin, failed to win any seats.
The elections were held simultaneously in Dhaka and Chattogram on Saturday, with 76 candidates contesting from three panels—Forum, Sammilito Parishad, and Oikko Parishad.
Election officials reported a strong voter turnout, with 1,631 out of 1,864 eligible members casting their ballots.
In Dhaka, 1,377 votes were cast out of 1,561 registered voters, reflecting an 88.21% turnout. Chattogram saw 254 out of 303 votes cast, resulting in an 83.83% turnout.
Forum panel leader Mahmud Hasan Khan, also Managing Director of Rising Group, emerged as the top vote-getter with 1,149 votes.
In Chattogram, Selim Rahman secured the highest number of votes, garnering 1,058, and was among the nine directors elected from the port city.
Polling was held uninterrupted from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Radisson Blu Water Garden in Dhaka and the Radisson Blu Hotel in Chattogram.
While the preliminary results were announced late Saturday, the official final results will be published on June 4.
The election for office bearers, including the President and Vice Presidents, is scheduled for June 14. The results will be announced on June 16, with the newly elected Board of Directors assuming office the same day.
The 31 elected Forum directors are: Mahmud Hasan Khan (Babu), Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, Mijanur Rahman, Faisal Samad, Mohammad Abdur Rahim, Inamul Haque Khan, Hasib Uddin, Vidiya Amrit Khan, Md Rezwan Selim, Shahed Udduza Chowdhury, Nafis Ud Doula, Mohammed Abdus Salam, Sumaiya Islam, Anwar Hossain Chowdhury, Fahima Akhter, Sheikh Hossain Muhammad Mustafiz, Majumdar Arifur Rahman, Kazi Mizanur Rahman, ABM Shamsuddin, Joardar Mohammad Hosne Quamar Alam, Asef Kamal Pasha, Rashid Ahmed Hossaini, Rumana Rashid, Mohammad Sohel, and Samiha Azim.
The six Forum directors elected from the Chattogram region are: Selim Rahman, M Mohiuddin Chowdhury, Sakeef Ahmed Salam, Md Shaif Ullah, Mohammad Rafique Chowdhury, and Enamul Aziz Chowdhury.
The four directors elected from Sammilito Parishad are: Faruque Hassan from Dhaka, and Syed Mohammad Tanvir, SM Abu Tayyab, and Rakibul Alam Chowdhury from Chattogram.
