Rubaiyat Jamil (46), founder and CEO of ICE Technologies, passed away on Friday on the field during a cricket match at Hathazari in Chittagong.
He was the only son of late Mahbub Jamil, former special assistant to the chief adviser in 2008-09 caretaker government, and chairman of Singer Bangladesh Ltd, according to a media release.
Rubaiyat Jamil was a young entrepreneur involved in multiple startups ranging from technology, food retail, elevators and escalators and industrial cooling solutions.
He was a former director of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), and an active member of International Chamber of Commerce Bangladesh, Bangladesh-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, BASIS, Gulshan Club, International Club Dhaka, Gulshan Youth Club and Savar Golf Club.
A passionate cricketer, Rubaiyat Jamil was a part of the Bangladesh under-16 and under-19 cricket teams in the 1990s.
He left behind his mother, sister, wife, three daughters and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his death.
The Namaz-e-Janaza for Rubaiyat Jamil will be held on Sunday (March 29), after Zuhr prayers at Gulshan Azad Mosque, after which he will be laid to rest in Banani Graveyard.
