Four remarkable women honoured at ‘Radhuni Kirtimoti Sommanona 2025’

Four women who have made remarkable contributions to social welfare, journalism, entrepreneurship and sports were honoured at the ‘Radhuni Kirtimoti Sommanona 2025’ at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka on 7 March 2026, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, according to a press release.

Now in its 20th year, this signature initiative by Radhuni, a brand of Square Food & Beverage Limited, continues to shine a spotlight on women whose dedication and achievements have inspired the nation. The winners were chosen through nationwide nominations and a rigorous selection process conducted by an esteemed panel of experts, including Tushar Abdullah, Editorial Head of Ekhon TV; Taslima Miji, founder of Gootipa; senior journalist Mustafa Mamun; and Sabila Enun, director of DCastalia Limited.

Welcoming the guests, Md. Parvez Saiful Islam, CEO of Square Food & Beverage Limited, highlighted the essence of the ‘Give to Gain’ theme, saying, “Respect, recognition and support for women are not just an acknowledgement of their achievements—it is an investment in society. When a woman rises, her family, her workplace and the nation rise with her. Through the ‘Radhuni Kirtimoti Sommanona’, we aim to celebrate that progress and honour women’s invaluable contributions.”

The ceremony featured speeches by special guests, including Rubaba Dowla, Chairperson of the BCB Women’s Wing and Country Managing Director of Oracle Bangladesh; Dr Rubana Huq, Chairperson of Mohammadi Group; Ekushey Padak–awardee artist Kanak Chanpa Chakma; and Dewan Hanif Mahmud, Founder Editor and CEO of Daily Bonik Barta.

The event also saw the presence of Anjan Chowdhury, Managing Director of Square Food & Beverage Limited; Geetiara Safia Chowdhury, Chairperson of Adcomm Limited; Imtiaz Firoze, Head of Marketing at Square Food & Beverage Limited; and other distinguished personalities from across the country.

The programme opened with an audio-visual presentation celebrating two decades of Radhuni’s impact and its role in empowering women. This was followed by a showcase of the brand’s ongoing initiatives for women’s development and a captivating ‘sand art’ performance by artist Jibon Roy, which symbolised transforming challenges into strength and reaching the pinnacle of potential.

The awards recognised the diverse achievements of the four winners. Kawser Soheli received the Kirtimoti Journalist Award for her investigative reporting on key social and governmental issues. Nur Nahar was honoured with the Kirtimoti Award for Social Welfare for founding ‘Bonchita’, advocating for the rights of sex workers and supporting marginalised women. Mst Suraya Farhana Resma received the Kirtimoti Entrepreneur Award for her pioneering agricultural and farming initiatives that have created livelihoods and improved the lives of countless women across the country.

Ritu Porna Chakma, a two-time SAFF Women’s Championship winner and a one-time Best Player award recipient, was presented with the Kirtimoti Sportsperson Award. The winners were felicitated with crests and cheques by distinguished guests.

Mediacom Limited managed the overall production of the event, and highlights of the ceremony will be broadcast on Maasranga Television on 8 March at 9:00 pm.
