France has expressed strong interest in expanding its investment footprint in Bangladesh, particularly in the pharmaceutical and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sectors.
French Ambassador Jean-Marc Serre-Charlet made the commitment during a meeting with Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin at the Ministry of Commerce in Dhaka on Monday.
They discussed the future of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, according to a press statement issued by the ministry.
During the discussion, the envoy highlighted that the French government has long been working to expand trade relations with Bangladesh.
He said that French companies are keen to explore new opportunities in Bangladesh, with a specific focus on the pharmaceutical and ICT sectors, which he identified as key areas for potential investment.
Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin welcomed France's interest, recognising the European nation as a significant and longstanding trade partner.
He pointed out that there are substantial opportunities to further enhance trade volumes between the two nations.
