Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has decided to further reduce the price of gold on the country's market.
This time, the price of 22-carat gold per bhori (11.664 grams) has been reduced by 2,741 taka, setting it at 224,182 taka, the organisation said. The new price will take effect from today (Thursday), a statement said on Wednesday evening.
It said that the price of pure gold on the local market has decreased. Considering the overall situation, the new gold prices have been determined.
Additionally, 21-carat gold per bhori is priced at 214,034 taka, 18-carat gold at 183,416 taka, and traditional gold at 152,857 taka.
BAJUS also stated in the notice that a mandatory 5.0 per cent government VAT and a BAJUS-determined minimum 6.0 per cent labour cost must be added to the selling price of gold.
Earlier on 29 December, BAJUS had adjusted the gold prices.
