Gold price has reached a new high in the country, as a bhori of the pricy metal rose to Tk 115,824.
Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (Bajus) on Saturday revised the price upward following the price surge of pure gold in the international market, it said in a statement.
As per new rates, the value of each bhori of 22-carat gold has increased by Tk 1,750 to Tk 115,824.
The prices of each gram of 21- and 18-carat gold have increased to Tk 9,480 and Tk 8,125 respectively.
Besides, the price of per gram of traditional (sanatan) gold rose to Tk 6,770. The new rates will be effective from today (Sunday).
Meanwhile, silver prices remained the same as before. Each gram of 22, 21 and 18 carat silver are being sold at Tk 180, Tk 172, and Tk 147 respectively.
The Bajus requested all jewellers to abide by the new pricing until it reaches any new decision.
