Within three days of the latest hike, gold price has again hit a new record in the country.
Now the price of per gram gold of the premium quality (or 22-carat) has reached Tk9,420 or per bhori (11.664 grams) Tk1,09,875.
The Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (Bajus) announced the newly-hike price in a statement issued on Wednesday, which will be effective from today (Thursday).
As per the announcement, per bhori gold's price rose by Tk1,750.
Earlier, price of per gram 22-carat gold was fixed at Tk9,270 or per bhori at Tk1,08,125 on November 26.
Of the other varieties, values of the 21- and 18-carat gold per gram increased to Tk8,990 and Tk7,710 respectively.
Besides, price of per gram traditional (sanatan) gold also increased to Tk6,425.
Meanwhile, prices of all varieties of silver remained static to previous rates.
Per gram 22-, 21 and 18-carat silver will be sold at Tk147, Tk 140, and Tk 120 respectively.
The BJA requested all jewellers to go by the new pricing until further decision.
According market insiders, five per cent value-added tax (VAT) and ornament-making costs will be added to the new gold and silver prices set by the association.
