Gold prices in Bangladesh have reached a new record, with 22-carat gold rising by Tk 2,612 to Tk 140,061 per bhori (11.664 grams), the highest ever in the country.
The new prices will come into effect on Sunday, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced in a press release on Saturday.
It explained that gold prices had to be set due to higher refined gold costs in the local market.
Apart from the 22-carat gold, other gold categories also saw price hikes: 21-carat gold is now Tk 133,704 per bhori, 18-carat gold is Tk 114,599, and traditional gold is Tk 94,117 per bhori.
Silver prices remain unchanged at Tk 2,100 per bhori for 22-carat silver.
Saturday’s gold price adjustment marks a third in recent weeks, with the 22-carat gold price raised to Tk 138,708 per bhori on Sept 26, a record at the time.
