Gold prices in the local market have been increased again, with the price of the highest quality 22-carat gold rising by Tk 4,374 per bhori (11.664 grams) to Tk 265,414, according to the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS).
The new prices came into effect from 10:30 am on Saturday, following an increase in the price of pure gold in the local market, BAJUS said.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the BAJUS Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring on Saturday, reports local agency. The information was disclosed in a statement signed by committee chairman Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin.
Earlier, the price of 22-carat gold was increased by Tk 2,216 per bhori on February 23 and by Tk 3,266 on February 21. With the latest adjustment, the price of 22-carat gold has risen by Tk 9,856 per bhori in three phases.
Under the new rates, the price of 22-carat gold has been set at Tk 265,414 per bhori after an increase of Tk 4,374.
The price of 21-carat gold has been increased by Tk 4,199 to Tk 253,342 per bhori.
The price of 18-carat gold has risen by Tk 3,557 to Tk 217,125 per bhori, while gold produced under the traditional method now costs Tk 177,701 per bhori after an increase of Tk 2,915.
Previously, from 10:00 am on February 23, the price of 22-carat gold was set at Tk 261,040 per bhori after an increase of Tk 2,216. The prices of 21-carat and 18-carat gold were fixed at Tk 249,143 and Tk 213,568 per bhori, respectively, while traditional gold was priced at Tk 174,785 per bhori. These rates remained effective until 10:29 am on Saturday.
Alongside gold, silver prices have also been increased. The price of 22-carat silver has been raised by Tk 175 to Tk 6,882 per bhori.
The prices of 21-carat and 18-carat silver have each been increased by Tk 117 to Tk 6,532 and Tk 5,599 per bhori, respectively, while traditional silver now costs Tk 4,199 per bhori after an increase of Tk 117.
