The government has approved the export of 1,200 tonnes of hilsa to India ahead of Durga Puja — the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community. The amount is almost half of what was permitted last year.
In this regard, the Ministry of Commerce on Monday issued a notification seeking applications from interested trading firms.
Last year, the government allowed the export of 2,420 tonnes of hilsa to India.
