Govt permits imports thru Akhaura-Agartala rail line

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has allowed the import of over 50 products from India through the newly constructed Akhaura-Agartala railway line.

The NBR also allowed the export of all other types of products through the railway line.

The information was revealed in a press release issued on October 31, but the revenue board informed to the journalists on Monday, according to media reports.

Akhaura Land Port Customs Station Assistant Revenue Officer Md Kamrul Parvez said, “We have come to know about the issue of notification from NBR. Hopefully, we will receive a letter regarding this soon. We will take necessary action in the light of that letter."

According to the notification, all products manufactured and processed in Bhutan (except yarn) and more than fifty products including rice, wheat, stone, cumin, wheat husk, cashew nut and cattle from India can be imported through Akhaura-Agartala railway.

Apart from this, all types of products can be exported to India using the rail line.
