Govt to procure 1 cargo LNG, 1,05,000 Ts fertiliser

The government today approved separate proposals for procuring some 1 cargo LNG and 1,05,000 tonnes (Ts) of fertiliser to meet the growing demand of the country.

The approvals came from the 24th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase (ACCGP) held at Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair, according to a BSS reports.

Following a proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, the Petrobangla would procure one cargo LNG from the spot market from Vitol Asia Pte Ltd, Singapore at a cost of around Tk 5.69 billion by following international quotation collection method.

In response to a proposal from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) would procure 40,000 Ts of MOP fertiliser under the 2nd lot from Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) under state-level agreement at a cost of around Tk 1.67 billion with per ton fertilizer costing $342.

In response to another proposal from the Ministry of Agriculture, BADC would procure 25,000 Ts of TSP fertiliser under the 2nd lot from Groupe Chimique Tunisien (GCT), Tunisia under state-level agreement at around Tk 1.68 billion with per ton fertilizer costing $550.

In response to another proposal, BADC would procure 40,000 Ts of DAP fertilizer from OCP NUTRICROPS, Morocco under state-level agreement at around Tk 3.46 billion with per ton fertilizer costing $710.
