The government on Tuesday approved separate proposals for procuring one cargo of LNG and 70,000 metric tonnes of fertiliser to meet the country’s growing demand.
The approvals came from the 20th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase this year, held on Tuesday at the Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair, reports BSS.
Following a proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, Petrobangla would procure one cargo of LNG from the spot market following the international quotation method from M/S Gunvor Singapore Pte Limited, Singapore, with around Tk 5.86 billion.
Following a proposal from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) would procure 40,000 metric tonnes of DAP fertiliser under the 12th lot under a state-level agreement with OCP NUTRICROPS, Morocco, for around Tk 3.24 billion, where per tonne fertiliser would cost $665.
In another proposal, the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) under the Ministry of Industries would procure 30,000 metric tonnes of bagged granular urea fertiliser from KAFCO, Bangladesh, under the 16th lot for the current fiscal year with around Tk 1.53 billion, with per tonne fertiliser costing $417.25.
The day’s purchase committee meeting also approved separate proposals from the Ministry of Railways, Road Transport and Highways Division, Ministry of Housing and Public Works, and the Armed Forces Division.
