Govt to procure 3.8m MTs of fuel oil in 2024

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on Wednesday approved a proposal under which the government would procure some 3.8 million (38 lakh) metric tonnes of refined fuel oil under Direct Procurement Method (DPM) from January to December period of the next calendar year.

The approval came from the 27th meeting of the CCEA this year held on Wednesday virtually with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in the chair.

Briefing reporters after the meeting virtually, Cabinet Division additional secretary Sayeed Mahbub Khan said that the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) under the Energy and Mineral Resources Division would procure this 3.8 million metric tonnes of fuel oil under G to G basis.

Out of these 3.8 million (38 lakh) metric tonnes of fuel oil, the BPC would procure 2.34 million (23.40 lakh) metric tonnes of gas oil, 0.375 million (3.75 lakh) metric tonnes of Jet-A 1, 0.275 million (2.75 lakh) metric tonnes of mogas, 0.75 million (7.50 lakh) metric tonnes of furnace oil and 60,000 metric tonnes of marine fuel.
