Govt to take tough stance against commodity price hikes: Asif Mahmud

The government will take a tough stance against price hikes in essential commodity markets, said Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, the adviser for youth and sports and Labour and employment ministries.

The adviser came up with the statement while addressing a view-exchange meeting organised by Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters Forum (BSRF) on Tuesday.

Asif Mahmud said the government will incentivise the entrepreneurs who will procure commodities directly from farmers.

He also said they have initiated efforts to make the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) more effective.
