Grameenphone customers to remain active even if account validity expires

Amidst the ongoing shutdown over the coronavirus outbreak, Grameenphone customers, whose connection validity already expired on April 20 or is set to expire in the first week of May, will remain active at least till May 31.

The telecommunications service provider company made the disclosure on Saturday, saying extension of the account validity will be provided automatically during this period of uncertainty when the customers need their services most.

Customers' incoming and outgoing calls will remain active, and they will be connected to their near and dear ones, reports UNB.

The Government of Bangladesh has declared the telecommunication industry as an emergency service during COVID-19. Due to the enforcement of the lockdown, several balance recharge agents' points are not fully operational across the country.

Grameenphone is providing balance transfer free from one user to another as many people are unable to recharge or facing difficulties to recharge.

Moreover, during lockdown scenarios the customers are running home-office and also connected with their near and dear ones through internet, responding to their change in lifestyle and new-normal needs these days Grameenphone has decided to introduce a double bonus in internet offer, 16GB, at the price of 8GB for 30 days, added the press release. 

Grameenphone has also extended the validity of its popular call rate offer 48 poisha per min. Previously, the offer was valid for up to 3 days, and now the validity will be extended to 6 days to offer flexibility in daily usage. For the postpaid customers, GP has increased the bill payment time from 15 days to 25 days.

Beside all these various initiatives, GP has also taken steps to increase COVID-19 awareness among all the citizens. The organization has introduced a network bar – Stay Home – to encourage people to maintain social distancing.
