The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has taken a significant step forward by launching the National Halal Laboratory and the country's first advanced Helmet Testing Laboratory.

Both facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art, world-class equipment, ensuring high-quality testing and certification for local industries. Industries Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan inaugurated the two labs at the BSTI head office in the city, said a news release.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the global halal market is vast, and as a Muslim-majority nation, Bangladesh has immense potential to expand its exports in this sector. He expressed optimism that the new halal lab would boost local production and strengthen the country's position in international markets.

The adviser also urged local entrepreneurs to invest in helmet manufacturing, emphasising that Bangladesh still relies heavily on imported helmets despite high demand. He hoped that the new helmet testing lab would encourage domestic production of high-quality helmets, benefiting workers in transportation, construction, and industrial sectors.

To celebrate the inauguration, BSTI organised an exhibition on its premises, featuring halal products from 10 leading local and international companies, including Nestlé, Akij, and Coca-Cola Food.

Mr Khan, along with other ministry officials and FBCCI Administrator Hafizur Rahman, visited the stalls and interacted with exhibitors. Later in the day, a discussion session was held, attended by Industries Secretary Md Obaidur Rahman.
