ICC Bangladesh President Mr Mahbubur Rahman has expressed deepest condolences at the demise of former Prime Minister of Bangladesh and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
In a condolence letter sent to BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, also the son of Begum Khaleda Zia, on Wednesday, the ICC Bangladesh president wrote, “I am deeply shocked and grieved at the sad demise of your beloved Mother Begun Khaleda Zia, three-term Prime Minister of Bangladesh and the Chairperson of BNP.”
“With her departure, we have lost the visionary leader of our time, who has led the country in re-establishing our lost democracy and rule of law, after the assassination of your illustrious father, President Ziaur Rahman,” Mr Mahbubur Rahman said.
“She remained an uncompromised leader and fought to ensure long-lasting democracy over the decades, despite being tortured and harassed for years. She has passed away at a time when Bangladesh is in dire need of a leader like her.”
“I, on behalf of ICC Bangladesh, The world business organisation and on my own behalf, extend our deepest condolences to you at this great bereavement. We pray to the Almighty Allah Rabbul Aa’lamin to give enough strength to you and members of your family to bear this irreparable loss with courage and fortitude,” the business leader added.
Mr Mahbubur Rahman also prayed for the eternal peace of Khaleda Zia's departed soul.
