Islami Bank and Mastercard launch Digital Payment Ecosystem at CU

Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC, in collaboration with Mastercard inaugurated a fully cashless university campus at Chattogram University under Bangladesh Bank’s ‘Cashless Bangladesh’ initiative.

The transformation will enable teachers, students and visitors to conduct cashless transactions across campus, according to a press release.

As part of the initiative, Islami Bank in collaboration with Mastercard set up Bangla QR at cafeterias, bookstores, administrative offices, train station of Chittagong University.

In addition, an exclusive debit card for students has been launched through the ceremony, offering them a convenient and secure way to manage their daily financial needs.

This card, jointly branded by Islami Bank and Mastercard will be provided free of charge to students.

Professor Dr. Muhammad Yeahia Akther, Vice Chancellor of Chittagong University, was present as the chief guest at a seminar at the Institute of Marine Sciences and Fisheries.

Rafeza Akter Kanta, Director of the Payment Systems Department of Bangladesh Bank, presided over the event while Md. Mokbul Hossain, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, Md. Altaf Hossain, Additional Managing Director of Islami Bank, Professor Dr. Mohammed Shamim Uddin Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) of Chittagong University and Md. Arifuzzaman, Director of Bangladesh Bank, were present as a special guests.

Jubaer Hossen, Head of Retail & Commerce of MasterCard along with executives and officials of Bangladesh Bank, university professors, employees and students, as well as senior officials of Islami Bank and Mastercard were present at the event.
