ISP United' panel bagged nine out of 13 posts of directors in the elections of Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB) for the 2025-2027 term.

The biennial election was held at the Shaheed Abu Sayeed International Conference Centre in Dhaka, with 229 of 262 registered general members casting their votes.

Among the elected directors of ISP United' panel, Nazmul Karim Bhuiyan, Managing Director of KS Network Ltd., secured the highest 201 votes, followed by Mohammad Aminul Haque of Amber IT Ltd. with 190 votes, Md. Mithu Hawlader of Invention Technologies Ltd. 185 votes, Moin Uddin Ahmed of Red Data Ltd. 180 votes, Neyamul Haque Khan of Majeda Networks Ltd. 179 votes, Rashedur Rahman Rajon of One Sky Communications Ltd. 177 votes, Saiful Islam Siddique of ICC Communication Ltd. 164 votes and Mahbub Alam (Raju) of Circle Network with 160. The lone independent Sabbir Ahmed won a seat, who secured 155 votes.

A total of 24 candidates contested for 13 director posts-nine in the general member category and four in the associate member category.

According to ISPAB's prior announcement, the top nine elected directors from the general and top four from the associate categories will form the new Executive Committee at a meeting, scheduled to be held on 19 May.

Meanwhile, election to the executive committee of the E-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB) for the 2025-2027 term is now set to take place on 26 July, following a sudden postponement of its previously scheduled on Sunday.

The voting, which was initially planned for 31 May, has been deferred amid controversy over the issues of voters' eligibility.

The Election Commission has confirmed revised election date in a notice signed by Election Board Chairman Tarafdar Sohel Rahman.

According to sources at the Election Commission, the new schedule will maintain all previous arrangements, allowing of those, who were previously dropped out despite having proper documentation, to participate in the upcoming election. Besides, neither the members, those who have already been listed as voters, will require to reapply, nor the previously selected valid candidates will need to resubmit nomination papers or purchase fresh ones.

The next phase of the election process will, therefore, begin with the withdrawal of candidatures.
